Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy lists the cookies basicsinging.com uses, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to give, change or withdraw your consent at any time.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. On the next visit the browser sends it back, so the site can recognise your session and remember settings. Similar technologies do comparable jobs: local storage keeps small values in the browser, and a pixel or tag reports that a page was loaded.
This policy covers all of them. Where it says "cookies", read it as cookies and similar technologies.
2. Consent under French law
Article 82 of French Law No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 allows cookies that are strictly necessary for the delivery of a service you have expressly requested to be set without consent. Everything else — functional, analytics and performance cookies — is set only after you have given consent through the banner. Until you do, those cookies are not placed on your device, and refusing is as easy as accepting.
We follow the CNIL's guidance on this: your choice is recorded and respected for six months, after which the banner asks again. Where a cookie also involves processing personal data, the Privacy Policy explains the lawful basis and your rights under the GDPR.
3. Categories used on basicsinging.com
- Strictly necessary — required to record that a plan has been paid for, to keep that access secure, and to process audio. These cannot be switched off.
- Functional / preference — remember choices you have made, such as your key, slider positions and saved presets.
- Analytics — count visits and pages so we can see which parts of the site are used.
- Performance — measure load times, upload speed and processing errors so we can fix what is slow or broken.
4. The cookies in detail
| Name | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| bs_csrf | Protects forms and uploads against cross-site request forgery. | Strictly necessary | Session |
| bs_upload | Tracks an audio upload and its processing job so the result returns to the right browser tab. | Strictly necessary | 6 hours |
| bs_access | The whole of your access. It records the plan paid for and the email address given at checkout, so the processor opens again on later visits. There is no login to replace it: delete this cookie and the access goes with it. | Strictly necessary | 1 or 28 days, matching the plan |
| bs_consent | Stores your cookie choice so the banner is not shown again. | Strictly necessary | 6 months |
| bs_prefs | Remembers your key, slider positions and saved presets. | Functional | 6 months |
| bs_locale | Remembers your language and number format. | Functional | 12 months |
| _bs_visit | Counts a visit and the pages viewed during it. | Analytics | 24 hours |
| _bs_id | Distinguishes returning browsers so visits are not double-counted. | Analytics | 13 months |
| bs_perf | Samples page load and audio upload timings. | Performance | 30 days |
| bs_err | Groups processing and error reports from one browsing session. | Performance | Session |
| paddle_* family | Set by the payment provider when a checkout opens, to run the payment and detect fraud. The exact names are listed in the provider's own cookie notice. | Strictly necessary | Session to 12 months |
Analytics identifiers are kept for no longer than 13 months, and the data they generate for no longer than 25 months, in line with the CNIL's recommendation.
5. Third-party cookies
Two third parties set cookies through the site. The payment provider, which acts as merchant of record, sets the cookies named above when you open a checkout or manage billing; they are used to run the payment and prevent fraud and are strictly necessary for that part of the service. The analytics provider sets its cookies only after you have accepted analytics in the banner.
These providers act under their own policies as well as our agreement with them, and may process data outside the European Union. Section 9 of the Privacy Policy explains the safeguards used for those transfers.
6. Changing or withdrawing consent
On your first visit a banner asks how you want to be handled. "Accept all" turns on every category. "Reject non-essential" leaves only the strictly necessary cookies in place. "Manage preferences" lets you switch functional, analytics and performance on or off one by one and save that choice.
Your choice is remembered for six months, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: use the link, which sits in the footer of every page, to reopen the banner and change your answer at any time. Clearing your browser's cookies also clears the choice, and the banner will ask again.
7. Managing cookies in your browser
Your browser can also block or delete cookies for this or any site. The controls sit in these places:
- Chrome — Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Site data.
- Safari — Settings (macOS: Preferences), then Privacy, where you can block cookies and manage stored website data. On iOS the same controls are under Settings, then Apps, then Safari.
- Firefox — Settings, then Privacy & Security, where Enhanced Tracking Protection and Cookies and Site Data are managed.
- Edge — Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when the window is closed.
8. What breaks if you block necessary cookies
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the processor from opening after payment, because the cookie is the only record that a plan was bought, and will break audio handling — a track cannot be put for processing or returned to you without them. Checkout will also fail, and the tool will not recognise a subscription you have already paid for. Everything else can be refused with no effect on how the service works for you.
9. Changes to this policy
If the cookies we use change, this page and the table above are updated, and the "last updated" date changes with them. Where a new non-essential cookie is introduced, the banner will ask for your consent again.
